PREFACE TO THE REVISED EDITION

 The Revised edition of the book "MATHEMATICS FOR CLASS VI" has been written strictly according to the latest syllabus prescribed by the NCERT.

In this edition, at the end of each chapter an exercise containing large number of objective type questions have been added followed by chapter tests. In order to test the knowledge and understanding of concepts learnt in a chapter, students are advised to attempt the chapter test.

Keeping in mind the mental level of a child, every effort has been made to introduce new concepts in a simple language, so that the child understands them easily. Basic concepts have been explained through attractive illustrations relating to our day-to-day life experience.

The book has been divided into 13 Chapters. The text has been re-written in a lucid manner. The difficulty level of the problems has been reduced and mathematical concepts have been explained in the simplest possible way. Each chapter contains a large number of illustrative examples to understand the applications of concepts. In each section, illustrative examples are followed by an exercise containing an adequate number of unsolved problems. The difficulty level of problems in exercise has also been reduced.

Students are advised to read the theory carefully and solve Illustrative Examples on their own before attempting the Exercises.

I hope that this book will be useful to the students and teachers alike.
